Russell Westbrook is a professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born on November 12, 1988, in Long Beach, California, and attended college at UCLA.


Westbrook was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. He spent the first 11 seasons of his career with the Thunder, where he established himself as one of the top point guards in the league. During his time with the Thunder, Westbrook was named the NBA's Most Valuable Player for the 2016-17 season, averaging a triple-double (double digits in points, rebounds, and assists) for the entire season.


Westbrook has also played for the Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, and Los Angeles Lakers. He is known for his explosive athleticism, speed, and intensity on the court. He is a nine-time NBA All-Star and has been named to the All-NBA First Team six times.


Off the court, Westbrook is known for his fashion sense and philanthropy. He has his own clothing line, Honor the Gift, and is involved in various charitable endeavors, including the creation of the Russell Westbrook Why Not? Foundation, which aims to inspire and empower children.
