Sally Field is an American actress, producer, and director. She was born on November 6, 1946, in Pasadena, California. Field began her career on television in the 1960s, starring in the popular sitcom "Gidget" and later in "The Flying Nun." In the 1970s, she transitioned to film and won Academy Awards for Best Actress for her roles in "Norma Rae" (1979) and "Places in the Heart" (1984). Field has also starred in other notable films such as "Steel Magnolias" (1989), "Forrest Gump" (1994), and "Lincoln" (2012). In addition to her successful acting career, Field has also produced and directed films and television shows.
